Harris Teeter Super Doubles Haul #2... 91.64% Savings

I think tonight is my final Harris Teeter haul for the Super Doubles as nearly all the products on my list were sold out. Got a pretty good haul though, so I can't complain too much.

Tonight:
Retail = $130.43
OOP = $10.91
Savings =  91.64%

Overall for this month's Harris Teeter Super Double's:
Retail = $260.02
OOP = $22.07
Savings =  91.51%

Tonight's Haul:

3 bags granola (I love it mixed in yogurt)
3 boxes Post Shredded Wheat
6 Hormel Completes
1 Always 20ct
1 Poise 20ct
2 Kashi Go Lean Crunch
10 Balance Bars
2 Angry Birds Cheese Nips
2 SpongeBob Cheese Nips
1 Pure Leaf 59oz Sweet Tea
4 Popped's Rice Cakes
6 Ken's Dressings
2 Digiornio Pepperoni Pizzas

I am running back to HT tomorrow to get a couple more of the Pure Leaf Sweet Tea since my oldest loves it so much. With a $1/1 e-Vic coupon and a $1/1 coupon from RP 04/28 (doubled) it makes it completely free since they're on sale for $2.79 each... even without the e-Vic it's only $0.79 for a large jug.

The Pure Leaf should have been free but the $1/1 eVic fell off my card. Going to try to re-add it tonight.

Just remember, with planning and organization, you CAN do it all.

Sensory Bin: Fake Snow

Snow is so much fun, but in the middle of summer it's just not around... and in the winter it's just too cold and wet... this recipe for fake snow that I found is amazing (I found it here)... it's cold and moist and molds just like perfect snow.

What You'll Need*:

3 cups of baking soda
1/2 cup hair conditioner

Mix... store in an air tight container... if it dries out add a little more conditioner to reactivate

*All items can be found at Dollar Tree

Sensory Squish Bag: Shaving Cream

A super simple messy clean activity is to fill a gallon baggie with shaving cream and seal. It squishes and actually keeps its shape that you squish it into. It's such a neat texture even my husband loves playing with it.

What you'll need*:
 Shaving Cream
Gallon Baggies

Very simple, fill & seal, getting out as much air as you can.

Sensory Bath Time Fun: "Ketchup" and "Mustard"

A super simple but fun activity was taking a cheap ketchup & mustard squirt bottle and filling it with water and a couple drops of food coloring, red for the "ketchup" and yellow for the "mustard". During her bath tonight she got a kick out of squirting them into the tub. This was a fun activity because she got to see red and yellow go in and then her tub water turned orange. I know she doesn't quite get the correlation yet, but it's a beginning... next time I'm at Dollar Tree I'm going to pick up a few clear ones so we can do a blue one too and try all the different color matches.

Sensory Bin: Multicolored Paper

Colors are fun to explore and learn with and paper is something that is cheap and readily available... This sensory bin is about 20 sheets of colored paper (10 colors, 2 sheets each) cut up in approximately 1"x1" squares. This one is fun to play match-ups with other small containers. Take one of each color and tape it to another small container and work with your little one to put the right color in the right container.

Sensory Bin: Pasta & Cereal

Used some left over pasta shapes that I had around (ones where there wasn't a full serving) and mixed them together with some cereal and popcorn kernels. Like the rice she loved moving it from one container to another and digging her hands way down in. The only issue was she kept trying to eat the cereal and pasta, but after one taste of a noodle she was over it.

Just remember, with planning and organization, you CAN do it all.

Sensory Bath Time Fun: Colored & Scented Ice Cubes

Adam found these awesome silicone ice cube trays at a yard sale that are perfect cubes, so I mixed up some water, food coloring and candy oils. During her bath tonight we tossed a couple different colored ones in and got to watch them melt and color the water. I explained that the ice was "cold" and we talked about the colors and watched them melt and change the bath water different colors. This was a fun "messy" activity as the water turned orange in the end, but it all rinsed right down the drain.

Sensory Bottles: Color Weeks

These were fun and super easy to make. I put a couple drops of food coloring in each and then some buttons and beads of the corresponding color and just for fun I added some fine glitter as well. Gwen is loving shaking these up and seeing everything move around and settle.

What you'll need*:

Water bottles
Food Coloring
Beads
Buttons
Glitter
Any other little objects you want to toss in
Super glue or hot glue

 Fill the bottles half way with water and food coloring and then drop in all your items you want in there. Fill the rest of the way with water. Before putting the cap on add super glue or hot glue to the threads, this will keep it from leaking and keep little fingers from getting the tops off.

*All items can be found at Dollar Tree.

Sensory Bin: Colored & Scented RIce

I decided to build some sensory bins for Gwen and tonight is the first in my series. I'm only doing a couple of colors to start with as I only had 1/4 box of rice left. Tonight I made Red Watermelon, Blue Pina Colada and Purple Grape.

For these I used:

1 1/2 tsp rubbing alcohol
Gel food coloring
Hard Candy oils (a few drops)
1/2 cup rice
Snack size sandwich bags

1. Mix the alcohol, food coloring and oils and mix thoroughly. I just put it all in the baggie and shook it until it was combined.

2. Add the rice and shake, Gwen loved helping with this part.

3. Lay out the rice on a cookie sheet or in a cake pan to dry, I put it on the back patio and it dried in about an hour.

Once it was complete I put it in a plastic show box and gave her a couple teaspoons, small cups and a couple other containers... she went crazy filling and dumping the rice. In order to keep the mess contained I put an old sheet down on the floor first.

Beginning of My Stockpile

The beginning of my stockpile, in the last 45 minutes I have completely filled these shelves and then some with all my stockpiled items around the house. Uh Oh I may need another one already. Going to Lowe's next to see about getting a peg board so I can hang all my pegged items. That will actually take a lot off the shelves.
